A Guide To Nutrition

In order to understand food, one must be able to define it. Food is any material consumed to give nutrition to an organism intended to sustain life. In fact, food is commonly of animal, plant or fungi origin, and has necessary nutrients, including proteins, vitamins, carbohydrates, and minerals. The diet of humans consist of a mixture of all the different types of food, especially meats, vegetables, fruits, and grains. Fruits and vegetables are the richest source of food with the rest being predominantly protein and carbohydrates.

One should not get confused when you see food, it is a living, breathing substance that is used to supply energy to an organism, for example to move from one place to another. Humans have been consuming foods since they were first created, however over time as technology and methods for food production have developed, the nutritional value of those foods has declined because of the increased levels of chemicals and pesticides used to keep pests and other organisms away. These toxins and chemicals can negatively impact an individual’s health, leading to malnutrition, chronic disease and even death.

While the basic purpose of eating is to eat to sustain life, humans have developed a habit of consuming foods in a way that does not provide them with complete nutrition. Some foods have greater nutritional value than others, and some have greater calories and fat content than others. The modern world is literally bombarding creatures with toxins, which is why children today often do not have access to enough foods like milk and cheese. Because the demand for processed, canned and packaged foods has increased, so has the amount of harmful additives, colorings and preservatives in modern foods. These toxins are absorbed into the body through the food’s absorption system, which is why it is necessary to pay attention to the nutritional content of foods as often as possible.
