The World Health Organization Definition of Health

The World Health Organization defines health as a state of complete well-being and the absence of disease or infirmity. Various other definitions of health have evolved over the years. The World Bank and the United Nations define health as the absence of pain, discomfort, and incapacity. There are many more definitions and classifications of health. However, the word “health” is generally used in the same context. The following are the most popular and commonly used ones.

First of all, a person’s health is the state of his or her physical and mental capacities. The ability to cope with stressful situations and recover from adverse events is a major component of health. Similarly, emotional and psychological health are essential resources for a healthy life. The goal of good health should be a balanced lifestyle with positive emotions, strong relationships, and an active and empowering work environment. This can only be achieved by investing in our health.

The promotion of health involves a range of policies and practices. Some factors are based on structural conditions and others are a result of individual choices. While some factors are beyond our control, we can promote health by promoting healthy behaviors and limiting harmful activities.
